After about a week of frustrating beading I can finally show you my finished
This bangle was a huge test of my patience and as I mentioned previously I nearly did give up on it!
I went against the advice of Nancy's pattern, and closed the seed bead section of the brick stitch and then joined the two ends together. Not sure if this was a great idea but I was having so much trouble joining the ends first that I thought I'd try something else.
Overall I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I adore the combination of colours I have used and think they look rather special together.
The bangle still has a tendency to twist - it will sit very flat on a table but once it's on my wrist it twists about. You can actually shape it which just adds to the character of the bangle itself but in terms of sitting stiff and round like a regular bangle then this is a huge fail! I am not sure if I have done something wrong or if this is the way it comes together as it is hard to tell by the picture with the tutorial as the bangles are sitting flat!
I've already had a friend ask me to make another of these in the exact same colours but have told her I need a bit of a break from this design. I took it to work today and another lady has asked me to make her one...aahhhhh!
As much as I adore the long magatama drops I am a bit sick of looking at them but I can hear them calling my name ever so softly so they will just have to be patient for a few weeks!

If you have made this bangle I'd love to hear your comments!

Hello!!!
I will do it and my idea was to make it the same way as you, but I think I will follow the advice of the author.
Your bracelet is very nice, I love the color ... but I do not tell you if twisting or not ... I have not seen any.
Greetings!!!

Yeah! I happy to see this did not become a UFO. I've been making some bangles and have wanted to try this pattern, but all the others who have posted about it have said the same as you - ugh! what a pain. Still, those dragon scales are alluring. Great work.
Hi:-)
I like the 'dragon bangle' very much.
Nice colors and fine texture of beads You have used ,make the design very elegant and interesting.
If 'twisting' is an unwanted side effect of the design-it must be really hard to avoid it!But in Your example it is almost unseen.

I.Love.This! Beautiful. I don't really play with seed beads, my patience level isn't that high! :) Thanks for sharing.
Very pretty bracelet!!! I love it! :-)
I love your color choice!! I'm working on one of these right now in blue/green tones... I'm about half-way through and was considering finishing it the way you did.. I'll try it the other way and see if it lays flatter.. I find that mine is twisting as I make it, but if I lay it on the table it lays flat.. Very odd.. I wonder if it's the way I put the beads on? I don't think I weave the exact same way every single bead... I also have had a few people interested in mine and I'm not even done with it yet!!
Ohhhh bellisima!!!!
Oh Karyn I am jealous that you have a finished piece! And a simply stunning one at that. I know you and I feel the same about this and yes I would still make another IF I ever get the first one finished. LOL
What a gorgeous bangle as to twisting, if you think about it Dragons are never stiff at least not oriental ones, so I think its rather nice to have a bit of movement in there, makes it more flexible and fluid.

Very pretty!!!!!!!
Karyn, this bracelet is gorgeous! It certainly looks reptilian...the name couldn't be better for it LOL The colours you have chosen are perfect :-) I like the rippled effect, whether it was deliberate or not.
Beautiful work, as always!

Well I finished mine.. tagged you in the pic on Facebook... I really like it.. I did mess up the connecting point somehow... and was just TOO tired to pick it out and fix it.. I got some twist to it but not too bad..I zipped it first and then connected..I was completely unable to connect and then zip.. I'm still fairly new to this type of work though so it might just be my newbie skills :)
I am eager to pick up some more beads and have another go at it though :)
Thanks everyone for the lovely comments.
Lois Moon - I too am glad that this didn't become another UFO. I loved this design which I think is what made me persist with it.
Kristen - you must finish yours... it's such a lovely bangle to wear!
Belinda - I can't take credit for the name of the piece but it certainly does suit it! Spencer thought it looked like a hedgehog!
Christine - I am so happy you finished your bangle. I think you did a marvelous job!
