Chain-ges

You might recall I was recently working on a piece which I had unpicked several times...ok about seven or eight times before I was ''happy''.

Well here is the finished piece!

The style of this piece is something a little different and new from me as I have never really used chain as the necklace for one of my beaded cabochons.

I usually create a beaded necklace or use a simple, pretty organza ribbon but I really do love the look of the chain with the metallic cubes.

The polymer clay cabochon is by Rachele of Rachele's Originals and the piece has been stitched with delicas, size 6/0 and 11/0 seed beads as well as cube beads.

I originally had a peyote link coming off either side of the cabochon but for some reason I could not get the piece to balance nicely so I finally opted for just the one link hanging the piece from the centre.

What do you think?

I think I might be using chain in my pieces more often!

Are you an unpicker?

Seriously...how many more times do you think I can unpick this current piece I am working on?

I reckon a good 3 or 4 at least.

I am beading around a poly clay cabochon and I am only on  my second row of beads but have unpicked this second row 4 times now and I am still not happy.

I have used size 6 seed beads, 1.8mm cubes, 3mm cubes, size 11 seed beads and have now used hex beads which I am happy with...for the time being!

I'd share a picture of my work in progress but it's likely to change again!

What is the record for unpicking beads in one piece for you?

Spring L♥ve

As a few of you may remember I was recently invited to be an Artbeads Design Partner. Since then I have been working on my The Beauty of Spring piece and am proud to be able to finally share it with you.

The gorgeous polymer clay heart cabochon was made by Julz which I beaded. I then tried my hand at making some peyote tube beads as well as some woven beads using Right Angle Weave.

The colours I chose for the beads reminded me of tulips in the spring time and just their names are reminiscent of Spring and are from the Toho range: Pink Lined Pink, Ceylon Coral Pink, Light Jonquil Lined Aqua and Orange Lined Light Topaz. I also added some cute little Czech glass flat flower crystals as well as some Czech 4mm beads.

To finish the piece I used a gorgeous Swarovski 14mm crystal AB faceted button as the clasp... sooo shimmery and sparkly.

Spring has sprung... well at least Autumn has here in Australia!
