Glass fused cabs to give away...

You might remember a little while ago I mentioned I would be having a giveaway to celebrate that
100 people in this big wide world follow my humble little blog.

Well today is the day to launch my giveaway!

I have 8 cabochons up for grabs and I will be running 4 separate draws with 2 cabs going to each winner.

All cabs have been glass fused in my microwave kiln using COE96 glass and a range of frits.

You can use the cabs as a centerpiece in your next bead embroidery project, you could attach a pendant bail to create a gorgeous necklace...in fact you can use them however you like!

~ Here are the sets I am offering ~

Draw 1

Draw 2

Draw 3

Draw 4

**  To win one of the sets above  **
just follow these
easy peasy steps:

1. Follow my blog.

2. Then leave a comment to validate your entry - it can be about the giveaway, my blog, the weather...anything really.

3. Tell all of your friends about the giveaway - the more the merrier!

If your email isn't linked to your profile be sure to leave an email address so I can contact you if you win!

The winners will be drawn on

MONDAY 12 JULY
(Australian time)
the good old fashioned way with my little man pulling 4 names out of his Ben 10 hat!

Note: Please be aware these cabs have not been annealed however are very hardy ...let's just say some of mine that I have used in my pieces have survived being dropped on my garage floor which is concrete...and not a crack in sight!
Unfortunately I don't have easy access to a kiln which is the only reason they haven't been annealed.

I use my cabs in my creations all the time and I've never had any issues with them breaking however if you feel you need to anneal them then please do so.

GOOD LUCK
and thank you so much
for following

Summertime in a Winter Wonderland

It's hard to believe I am working on a Summer themed piece when it is cold and frosty here in Australia.

But the latest theme for the Artbeads Blogging Program is

Summertime

and check out the awesome collection of beads I ordered and received a few days ago!

I ordered a gorgeous selection of czech glass beads in 4mm, 6mm and 8mm, some adorable Swarovski stars and teeny tiny fish, super sparkly Czech glass roundelles and seed beads.
But I think my favourite item is the cute sterling silver fish clasp.

So here is what I have come up with so far.

The cab is one of my own glass fused cabs I made a few months ago for a seaside challenge.

What do you think of my colour matches?

I have a few pieces to finish off for the Bead Soup Party
so watch this space to see this one
finished!

My Creative Space

Well once again I am a few days late but like I have said before better late than never.

The main reason I hadn't posted photos of my Creative Space was ...well... I was still working on the same piece, Spring Love, that I had been working on for the last few weeks so didn't really want to bore you with the same old pictures! But as you will have seen by my last post that piece is well and truly done and dusted!

SO... I have now started a new piece! I am currently working on yet another competition piece. I'll give you a hint... the colours I have to use are Amparo Blue, Turquoise and Pink Champagne.

I am using a glass fused cab I made in my microwave kiln which was created from a cracked lampwork bead made by Sally from Happily Ever Artist.  She makes the most divine lampwork beads (and she has just released a tutorial based on her stunning lily beads) and I was lucky enough to receive some of her cracked beads in an experiment to see how they would fuse in my kiln.  As you can see it fused pretty darn nicely!

I am not completely sure of how this piece will come together but it will include St Petersburg and perhaps a few other surprises thrown in here and there!

Watch this space as this piece is due 15 June so I better get a mosey on!!

Be sure to check out Kootoyoo to see what other creative souls are up to this week.

Raku pendant

♥♥♥

When I made this raku glass fused cabochon I fell in love with it immediately and I knew I had to keep it for myself!

I beaded the cab up with black seed beads - nothing to fancy to take away from the cab itself.

I love this piece and every time I have worn it have received lots of comments on the cab. Feels great to be able to say I made the "whole" piece!

From chunky to gorgeous!

Check out this gorgeous glass fused cab I recently created.

The glass on the right is a chunk of lampwork glass that one of my lovely beadie friends, Nat, gave to me.

Nat is an amazingly talented lampwork artist based in Australia. She kindly gifted me with a wonderful selection of glass chunks - which I am guessing are the result of some of her unsuccessful beads she had made. I have been like a kid in a candy store fossicking through the bag of glass and imagining how beautiful the successful beads were that she made. She also gave me a huge collection of Moretti glass rod ends from which she creates her beads which were too short for her to use... too short = burnt fingers = OUCH!

I adored the chunk of glass before I fused it so I was soooo happy to see how the cab turned out.. an adorable little triangular cab. I'd love to take credit for the shape but it formed that shape all by itself.

Talk about a great way to use unwanted glass!

Watch this space for more cabs made from Nat's lovely glass.
