Slight heart failure and the dilemma of a clasp!

As you might already know I've been working on this cuff for a few weeks now.

I am so happy with the way it's come together.

The earthy tones are definitely me and as this is my first cuff I will definitely be keeping this one for myself!

BUT before I finish it I need some design help from all of my wonderfully talented friends.

I want to keep the cuff flexible and soft so I won't be adding it to a metal cuff base but I am not sure what kind of clasp to add.

I have this toggle clasp which I thought I could attach with some beads.

But then I thought I could do a peyote toggle but thought that might be ''too much".

I also have some antique brass and copper lever clasps which I just ordered but they are a lot smaller than I had anticipated so I don't think they are going to work.

For the first time EVER I actually cut through my thread when trimming the edges...you can see the section where the beads are missing in the photo above...just near the clasp...
I can't believe I did it...
I think I was just rushing to trim it so I could photograph it in the last of today's daylight and get it posted here to ask for your help.
Thankfully it is easily fixed but the sound of the beads falling onto the table still gave me slight heart failure!

Ok. Now that my heart is back to beating normally.

Any suggestions on what kind of clasp to use?

It's absolutely beautiful! Congratulations on some really fantastic work! Have you begun backing it yet? My take on the clasp you have shown in the picture is that it will be too small for the rest of the cuff, unless you added two of them, one below the other. It would be the only element out of balance - the rest of the composition is very balanced (which is sometimes hard to do, so yayyyy!). I think that a peyote toggle clasp would be perfect, and not over the top at all!!

I agree that a peyote toggle clasp would work great. This piece is a stunner Karyn - bravo! And oh my goodness, I can just imaging that feeling when you cut through the thread! Ack!

AWESOME!! Sherry Serafini would be so proud! If I were you, I would definitely use a metal clasp just to give it a little flash. I think it's awesome. Congrats on a job well done!

I am in total awe! That is one stunning piece! I think I would go with the peyote clasp only to balance the piece with rings. I just about had heart failure reading what happened. I am so glad you were able to fix it!

This piece turned out beautiful. Since you used my Nicole's BeadBacking simply finish the back with soft deer hide. This will allow your cuff to keep shape and be soft for the wearer. I try to use clasps that can be closed by the owner. Beautiful antique buttons work well. I do like the clasp in the photo though it flows with the rest of the art.
Beautiful.

Thank you everyone for your input.

Nancy - I haven't backed it yet. I need to repair the row of beads where I cut the thread first...doh! However am I best to attach the clasp now so that it sits between the bead work and the backing to make it more secure?

Marcie - thank you so much for saying Sherry would be proud... that certainly is a huge compliment!

I might make a quick peyote toggle clasp to see how it looks - otherwise I like the sound of a big old button - only thing is I am not sure how a big loop would look to go around it...
