Bead and Gem Show

BRISBANE BEAD & GEM SHOW

The Brisbane Bead & Gem Show is on this weekend and I am still deciding whether to go or not....can you believe I am debating whether to go and buy beads! Am I insane in the membrane?

I have taken a look at the exhibitor listings for this year and boy the numbers certainly have dropped...28 in total with a $13.00 entry fee.

I am desperate for some new display busts...some extra big ones that I can photograph my longer pieces on. I only own two busts and they are currently out of action as they are displaying some pieces I have entered in the Ekka.

I just know I will find lots of other pretty things to buy... as one does when they visit shows of this kind but hubby likes to come too and that can be pretty dangerous as he has very expensive taste when it comes to beads and always manages to encourage me to spend my money on something he ''thinks I should buy'' rather than something I think I should buy that I really don't need!

So if he comes that will be $26.00 in entry fees and $10.00 for parking...ouch!

I am wondering if I might be better off buying my busts online.

Anyhooo I am sure I will still end up going and no doubt will spend a small fortune.

For some reason there is never a good range of seed beads. There is one exhibitor but their beads are nearly double the price of where I usually buy my seed beads so I kind of begrudge (is that word too harsh?) buying from them...why is something as simple as seed beads so hard to buy at these bead shows... is it the same in other countries or just good old Australia?

No doubt in a few days I will be showing you pictures of my loot which will cover everything but what I went there to buy!!

Went to the Brissy Bead and Gem a couple of years ago and was disappointed. Save your money and come to Melbourne for the bead Society Expo in November and do a class with Marcia DeCoster.
Are you entering their Bead Challenge?
The only beading thing I miss from Brissy is Mad Monnie's

I heard Marcia was going to be in Melbourne... gosh I'd love to do a class with her! I must join the Bead Society - a few friends are in it.
